Technosol is a machine-modified material that is found everywhere around mines and construction sites. In the case of technosol, the transformative impact of human activities on its appearance and development is very significant.
The upper layers of the soil are either partially removed or mixed with the lower layers. Technosol can also be formed by burying natural intact soil under a dump or it can consist entirely of spread material.
In the initial period of the formation of technosol, humans need to help start and continue the process of natural soil formation by populating the soil with plants suitable for the growing area and by ensuring suitable water conditions and soil acidity. This way, plants can easily create favourable conditions for the development of a well-functioning and sustainable ecosystem and thereby soil formation.
