Idea contest

The Estonian Natural History Museum is embarking on an exciting journey to construct a cutting-edge museum facility, set to open its doors in 2027. This landmark project will feature the largest public energy-efficient wooden building in the Baltics, housing a state-of-the-art permanent exhibition.

To ensure that our new exhibition captivates and enlightens visitors, we're launching an idea competition in September 2024. By the year's end, we aim to select the winning proposal.

Entitled "Art of Coexistence," our permanent exhibition seeks a holistic solution that deeply resonates with visitors, engaging all senses, eliciting diverse emotions, and providing an immersive spatial encounter. Our goal is to illustrate the intricate interconnectedness of nature, demonstrating humanity's integral role within it.

We invite innovative collectives passionate about modern museology, environmental sustainability, and experiential learning to participate. Previous experience in designing exhibition narratives is highly desirable.

Details regarding participation guidelines will be available from the beginning of September on the Estonian Public Procurement Register: https://riigihanked.riik.ee/

A generous prize fund of 60,000 euros awaits the winning entry, reflecting our commitment to fostering creativity and excellence in museum design.
